Tyrant’s stern lips press
against a twitching thumb, eyes
girl in rags, gleam hope
Inspired by Ronovan Writes Challenge #205 Especially liked this week’s combination of words: Tyrant and hope. Somewhat contradictory — exactly what can create some great poetry.
A similar haiku to this that I used the same image for, is titled Defiant Hope Really proud of this poem, and it was one of the first haikus that I had written in a long time (from back when I first started this blog two years ago!)
It’s a powerful visual, one where a tyrant, as stern as he might be, could still be moved by the hope in a poor girl’s eyes.
